How do we balance equations in algebra?
An equation is basically saying that two things (expressions, to be exact) are EQUAL.
Since in a balanced situation the two sides of the balance hold equal weight.
Here, in this algerbric equation , we need to do this:
- Add the same amount to BOTH sides
2. Take away the same amount from BOTH sides
x+3=5 — (i)
x =5–3.
x=2.
if we add 2 in equation (i) it will balanced.
5=5
Combining the operations:-
Like addition , multiplication , subtraction , divide.
The allowed operations are:
- Add the same amount to both sides (either x's or ones)
- Subtract the same amount from both sides (either x's or ones)
- Multiply both sides by the same number (but not by zero)
- Divide both sides by the same number (but not by zero)
→Addition.
4=4
add the same amount on both side.
4+2=4+2
→Division.
4x+2=8x+2 — (ii)
if , we need to simplify the equation divide it by same number on both sides.
2x+1=4x+1.
Add the amount to balance the equation:-
25+20=45.
